Fields have closed due to the end of the season, while I keep running (trying to make up for lost time!).

Time flies... Impressive!

It’s unbelievable (as inadmissible!) how much cost to sustain a house in Rio. Lately I’ve read news about the abusive prices to maintain a dignified carioca life.

Properties here is more expensive than Paris! This, without include other spent such as feed, health, transport, communication…

Trends have increased sharply since 2006, reaching the peak at 380% compared with the past values. However, after knowing that Brazil is going to host the World Cup in 2014 and also the Olympic Games later, in 2016, it started to be really quite unfair.

Considering most part of local population salaries which remained constant or plateaued, the fact is that the economy is going exclusively along with the touristic numbers. Carioca’s reality is diverse of this bed of roses that is believed we live. But ok, I understand that is envied our way of life, even being poorer than other’s worldwise patterns... Blame of overvalued beachs and other postcard views.

Although it said that can open the window and admire Christ, the redeemer, is priceless…(!), this is a private treasure, just for a few  privileged rich people, who can pay (much) for seeing this beautiful known landscape so close. Thus, I'm miserably blessed (also for keeping the wolf from the door)!

desires, memories and melancholy

I would like to go upstairs and see all the city (or a large part of) through its roofs. I always think about that, the landscape and thoughts by this point of view… the outlooks.  It's a possibility to get a breath of fresh air (and equally old and historical). “Telhados de Paris”, a Nei Lisboa’s song outlines some idea about that. 

So, when I saw the ‘Blue Roofs’, a Picasso’s painting, in Van Gogh Museum (Picasso in Paris 1900-1907 exhibition – until May there), this intention was brought to the light, more than ever. It results in a fantasy... It's a real illusion, only mine. When I was there, in Paris, last year, I simply didn't realize that I could put into practice this dream. However I asked for, in Amsterdam (in vain...) Silly girl...

Sometimes, the unpreparedness leads us to this way… Changing the subject, I remembered, both seeing that shadowy images from his melancholy Blue Period and reading about its stories, the Broadway musical ‘Spring Awakening’, an rock adaptation of the controversial 1891 German play of the same title.

Carlos Casagemas, a Spanish painter aswell, moved to Paris in the same period of his friend, Picasso. In 1901, he killed himself with a shot in the head when he was only 21 years old as a consequence of an unanswered love. This unsuccessful affair drove him crazy (literally).

Notably, the beginning of 18th century was distinguished by this youth behavior. Their immaturity gave rise to some unhappiness which brought about these damages to the society of that period. In the teen ages being as an infant and after that, immediately becoming a mister… with all responsabilities and the burden of it on their back. It used to be too severe for everyone.

Besides the free guided tours around the exhibition (and also for the permanent one - unlosable!) – in English and Dutch, there is always something special going on: lounge chairs, video projections, live music, DJs and a bar to relax and enjoy it even more (better if in a special company - of course!).

Finalizo o ano de 2010 correndo (literalmente) atrás do prejuízo, em busca de meus objetivos. ‘Vamo que vamo’! O que não for feito agora, só ano que vem... 2011 vem aí cheio de novidades, mais próspero, BEM melhor!

no contexto

1510 anos na nossa “frente” - pelo menos. Considerando nossa cultura ocidental, sim, é justamente essa a nossa diferença deles, o quanto estamos distantes dos europeus. Fácil ficar simplesmente fascinado quando se está no ‘museu de grandes novidades’ deles, seu velho mundo. Nesse sentido, o meio é contagiante.

Frio, solidão, bucolismo, drogas... Assim, dá para entender sua inspiração. Aquelas construções, paisagem - lugares que serviram de cenário para fatos marcantes de nossa História, que ficaram gravados para sempre na memória das pessoas graças a escritores, pintores, artistas que, de alguma forma, retrataram essa realidade pela qual passaram.

De fato, é passado, mas está ainda tão presente em nossas vidas, educação. É uma riqueza inestimável - como seriam outras tantas culturas dizimadas em nome da fé e poder, em diferentes continentes, por distintos homens - no sentido de diversos (notáveis sim, porque são conhecidos, mas não ilustres , pelo menos para mim, pois não lhes tenho estima, tampouco consideração).

Atualmente ainda é tão vivo isso tudo, que é presente também. E, no futuro será, igualmennte... Vida longa ao que acrescenta. Ao que restou e pode ser passado a diante, para que as novas gerações possam conhecer sua existência, o que ainda há. Temos muito o que aprender com tudo. E, hoje, posso dizer que entendo e compartilho da sensação daqueles cuja trajetória contribuiu para o mundo. Quase isso.
