Hooray!
Today it's HIS day!
Although it's said Noël, in French, that means 'day of birth', the occasion we celebrate the saint is on the day of his death....
The first time he was cited stablishing his relation with Christmas, was in 1822 by Clement Clark Moore.
In the poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas" the patron of children, was described as Santa Claus, giving them gifts in the Eve Christmas. Maybe that's why this opus is also called "The Night Before Christmas".
In fact, he hadn't wear yet a red suit. Created by Haddon Sundblom, this image we all know nowadays: the fatter figure of a old man, came in 1920, with Coke (Coca-Cola) advertisings.

boo!
Fantômes, vampires, sorcières, loups-garous, zoombies et toutes les genres de monstres typiques d'Halloween... Je jamais ne pensais d'être si impliqué dans cette culture!
C'est beau... les enfants (et même les adultes!) se déguisent, puis les gamins cherchent des bonbons, plusieurs histoires d'horreur sont racontés, les maisons et les rues sont fortement décorées pour cette occasion. De plus, c'est le meilleur party de l'année! Le plus trippant!
En étant à l'Amérique du Nord, c'est impossible ne pas s'engager! C'est comme aller au Brésil et ne pas y célébrer le carnaval! En outre, pour eux, c'est vraiment comme ça: leur carnaval!

Par contre, je comprends les gens là-bas qui s'opposent à ces festivités qui ne nous appartiennent pas. Je suis d'accord: sauf les écoles d'anglais ou de la culture anglaise, je ne crois pas qu'on doive les fêter avidement alors que certaines traditions brésiliennes, plus significatives à nous, sont mises de côté pour commémorer la réjouissance des autres.

Carandiru
2nd October 1992: 111 inmates were killed in a massacre at 9th Pavilion of this penitentiary in Sao Paulo.
20 years later, no one of the riot police force was arrested; not even Col. Ubiratan Guimaraes, who was in charge of the raid. In fact, he was tried and convicted for murdering 102 prisoners, but NEVER went to jail.
As in Brazil everything end in nothing, he was even elected federal deputy later, before dying (under unclear circumstances in 2006). Surely, the 56,155 votes which he got were not from victim's families.
I'm not from Human Rights, but I'm against injustice. Although all international repercussion, we all know it'll come to nothing, as usual. Unfortunatelly.
Actually, the only positive consequence of this episode is the movie Carandiru, by the argentine director Hector Babenco - a masterpiece of our cinema! I just (re)watched it and I sincerely recommend.

God save the Queen the trouble
Today, on the Labour Day, I will ask which one is Queen Elizabeth II’s? Only representation, I guess.
I really don’t agree with monarch politic system. I’m republican, after all. However, this way to govern a country have worked until now in UK and adjacencies. Surprising, British people approve it.
This behaviour was clear this week, during the fervent royal wedding arrangements and events. Incidentally, who did pay for it? I suppose the people - all colonies included.
It is said that Middleton family was the one-third sponsor. The other two fraction, well… you know. Nevertheless, it seems that nobody (or the major part of them don‘t) cares about that…
As long as I’m used to a different system, I really don’t understand this situation. Though, I have to admit that the countries she is the Head are in good economical and social conditions.
There is a merit in that, which haven’t done by any other leader. Even so, she has a role that, sometimes, seems as a joke, due to the First Ministers more active functions. Thus, she has somewhat as an ornamental political occupation.
Even worst is the waiting of Prince Charles to become king. I read that is the longest crowning delay of their History. Ok, he is merely decorative indeed... Owing to his lack of popularity, many prefer William as her successor.

At the same time, yesterday was celebrated in the Netherlands the Queen’s Day (Koninginnedag). I swear I would like to had been there.
Spring time, hot pleasant weather, everybody going to the parks on weekends, as well as celebrating festive events... It is a quite good opportunity to be happy(er).

pretty beach, but low profile
(in reason of nobody knows who she truthfully was - not even her real name!)
In fact, she used to be high profile (because has been famous). However, her face can’t be seen on TV anymore… If she is still on men’s mind, I think so! - after all, television is a (false and faked) fantasy that doesn’t show the dark side of reality - her nonsense and slovenliness.
After a painful surprise against me, I'm sure she is bearing the chances of her (ill) fortune - now, taking care of people's head (in the exact meaning of the expression). So, limited like that, she doesn't convince altogether as before(!).

How much evil could affect somebody? Envy is, without doubt, one of the worst feelings that someone can experience - mainly when is from someone who SHOULD wish our happiness, and doesn't take us as an "adversary".
Unfortunate is who tastes its own medicine. Selfish, remaines grieved - and, as a result, stays (always) behind, worried about others’ happiness (or trying to hamper it).
With me, in vain… In fact, this act just strengthen me!

uni-vos!
A amizade deve sempre ser celebrada porque é um dos maiores tesouros que possuímos - gratuitamente, genuinamente.
Certas coincidências não são mero acaso. Termos escolhido nós a data de realizarmos nosso encontro pataxó e comemorarmos o final de ano, a integração, as vindas e idas de alguns, e ela ter caído em épocas de eventos da verdadeira etnia indígena, grande inspiradora, assombrou meus pensamentos.
De maneira positiva, fiquei pensando – assim como a Mell, e suponho que também outros integrantes dessa nossa ‘tribo’, sobre como é importante termos essa sintonia e esse circulo de amigos. O objetivo é incluir. Vírgulas sempre vão existir em qualquer sentença, mas quando a frase é verdadeira, nunca acaba em ponto final.
Pode parecer piegas falar sobre união, sobre amizade e relacionamentos, mas para quem sua família por diversos motivos acaba sendo seus amigos, compreende-se a ‘cafonice’ de se ser sincero e abrir a guarda em momentos ternurinhas como este. Eu, a mais fria de todas, com toda a minha dificuldade em demonstrar afeto, tenho tentado me render e tentar ser mais calorosa.
O que se viu no último sábado foi uma sessão um tanto trash de trocas de presentes engraçados, inúteis, improváveis, e de outros sempre bem-vindos. Esse ano o tão conhecido amigo secreto (aqui no Rio se diz ‘oculto’) aconteceu mais cedo e foi divertidíssimo. Adorei a companhia, o evento, a criatividade dos comparsas, a euforia na troca de mimos, a sinergia que rolou.
Como sou uma pessoa que gosta de dar... (presentes – quem me conhece, sabe!), espero ter agradado a todos com as lembrancinhas que levei e principalmente minha amiga discreta - a ser mais in(discreta). Meu amigo “severo”, que me tirou, disse em seu discurso que eu sou a mais pataxó de todas... Na hora esqueci, e ainda não o questionei a respeito, mas agora fico eu me perguntando por que será(?)!
Que esse dia (24 ou 28 - tanto faz) seja come(e bebe)morado durante MUITOS anos! Merecemos todos, tanto os novos indiozinhos, quanto os mais velhos caciques. Já pensando no ano que vem, olhei agora a foto e pensei numa segunda edição do evento, e do prêmio, mas a caráter... Opa! Socorro. OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
