Not to freeze (in low temperatures as -25°C).

Head 
- wool or wool and leather hat/bonnet;
- winter ear protection.


Face (cosmetic products required)
- some kind of cocoa butter lipstick;
- moisturizer;
- a pack of facial tissues (because your nose will flow!).


Neck
- wool scarf;
- wool neck protector / wool neck warm hat / wool neck guard.

  
Hands 
- gloves/mitts 

(until -5°C, of wool / lower: sheep wool and leather / lower than -20°C: ski ones)

- for special occasions, when you'll be oustide for a while: hand warmers.


Body 
- long johns;
- baselayer long;
- a windbreaker or a sweatshirt (or both);
- snow/winter overall;
- a warm winter jacket - a long one, not to freeze your butt!

(wind-resistant and waterproof, appropriate for low temperatures);

- a (big) bag, in order to put in your gloves, hat, scarf and everything else you will take off while on metro, shopping etc. (believe me: it's boring. After ten minutes, it also starts to be heavy with the jacket in your arms!), besides all other necessary accessories you have to carry with you, like your pair of step dry shoes.


Feet
- a good pair of special winter boots

waterproof, appropriate for low temperatures. Nice brands:

Columbia, Kamik, Sorel and The North Face.

- wool socks (until 5°C: 1 pair / lower: 2 pairs / lower than -20°C: 3 pairs);
- thermal insoles;
- for special occasions, when you'll be oustide for a while: foot warmers;
- a pair of another softer shoes to wear while inside 

(snow is beautiful, but it is wet... mainly when it melts and mess all the floor).

 

Besides you look like a Eskimo or a winter monster (with lots of clothes - which you spend at least 20 minutes putting it all on), no, IT IS NOT cheap dress yourself in the winter season... Furthermore, pay so much doesn't means (at all!) you'll look great, though. Discriminating taste in fashion is a second point... (even more expensive!)

Due to the theories of World's End, everybody forget... but it's winter! (or, for lucky people below: summer!)

In December 21, the sun was exactly at its southernmost point in the sky in the Northern Hemisphere. This means that, since then, days start to be longer. Finally.

Night at 4:30 PM depress... Just nine hours of sunshine a day it's very little. Not enough. NOT AT ALL! - mainly for me, a beach girl.

We'll never forget the first snowstorm we witness... Freezing, wet, white, it's something! At the same time, it may be awesome for who is not used to. Become beautiful to foreign eyes... A romantic souvenir, even if chaotic.

All novelties turn us into a kid. That is wonderful, although all damage and trouble caused by this worst blizzard occured in Montreal area in December.

A hint: attend to yellow snow! It's (dog) pee.

While living in a northern place, landscape must be completely white in the end of the year! Thick ground full of snow... to play and have fun! 

Like a child.

I just wait for this moment as soon as summer end!

We must enjoy every little moment in summer because it flies... When we realize, swallows are already leaving for south! 

While ants and squirrels wildly try to carry much food as possible (before arrive the time when bears hibernate), I attempt to stock as much as D vitamin I can. It's the last days taking sun in the skin, free of coats, jackets, overcoats, scarfs, hoods, bonnets and gloves.

Now, I'm catching on their rhythm... Maybe too late.

Well, many things we couldn't do this year, only in 2013... (Why? Because HE comes... the winter) It's a matter of cycle; here, the best season ends now... very early, so fast.

Next year, I WILL make up for lost (sunny) time.

informal winter

Finally the cold has came. It’s pretty freezing here, for Rio’s patterns. As it is said, “E o inverno no Leblon é quase glacial” (in English, something as “and the winter in Leblon is nearly glacial”)... almost that, once Cariocas get to use even gloves! - believe it or not.

Actually, even with all exaggerations typically carioca, ‘winter’ is an informal truth. Not quite one, though, considering the “low” temperature  (of pleasant 15° C!).

Take it easy, it’s (still) autumn! - and there are many both delicious and interesting things to enjoy during this soft season.

- Look there! What are those black points on the water?

“Ducks!”, he answered me smiling… So I looked at them again, very impressed by their facility in stay at the same place, fluctuating, even with the gale which had wind-bounded us, letting everybody when in the wind‘s eyes almost without can walk many times during the better part of a day (and night).

Indeed, I could never imagine that I would find many animals so close where I’m living… I always thought that in Europe everything related to nature (the weather and its creatures inclusively!) were a little grey and dead… Well, I was completely wrong!

Everyday, when I go out home I see on the grassy spaces between the buildings in my neighbourhood some small groups of hares. Furthermore, uncountable species of ducks... green, black and white ones, besides other waterfowls - in most part of them, are adorning the cold landscape. 

In contrast of many cockroachs, rats, pigeons and bats that I was used to find near my house in Rio, here, in Amsterdam, I've seen flights of sea-gulls, storks, herons, gooses, and also flocks of tropical cocotas. Increadible! - I'm really surprised about that in particular due to the adverse weather... 

(*Ok, I know that there are many species of beautiful animals inhabiting Rio. However, in Laranjeiras is not common see crocodiles, fishs, many monkeys and birds! In different places, maybe you can meet them easily, but not there...)

as teddy-bears

Another type of animal we can meet often here, in the North Europe, is a kind of domestic bear. Actually, this low-temperature season usually results in people's behaviour changes (we practically became it!) - almost hibernating... sleeping and eating a lot (besides sometimes wearing heavy furry clothes). As the teddy ones, we rest on the bed most part of time (that we can!).

On the other hand, there is always someone 'bearlike', who is changed into a gruff person as a consequence of having its heart freezed - of course, this last one, isn’t my case INDEED.

o dia mais frio do ano

Não é hoje, quando o inverno inicia, mas um domingo estranho semanas atrás. Mais que a sensação térmica gélida causando desconforto, o que realmente (me) incomodou foi o sentimento certo na hora errada – algo assim.

Talvez a baixa temperatura tenha sido só um truque do clima para nos distanciar. É mais fácil colocar a “culpa” no tempo, e dele falar sempre que achar necessário mudar de assunto ou para lembrar o fim anunciado na ocasião. Será?

Nunca vou saber... Que o vento leve minha vontade para bem longe, aonde não possa mais me alcançar, pois sinto arrepios cada vez que me vem à mente o que poderia ter sido, como deveria ser agora se estivéssemos em outra estação; e ele, na minha.

Futuro, fatores externos independentes a nós... nada me importaria. Seria algo como "Quero que você me aqueça nesse inverno e que tudo mais vá pro inferno"! Agora, tanto faz. Sigo sem o calor daquele abraço apertado ou qualquer possibilidade palpável, esperando somente esquecer, e a primavera chegar, enfim.

Post de mulherzinha hoje...

Agora que os bons tempos de vaidade (e vergonha na cara, admito) voltaram com tudo, posso afirmar, de unhas bem-feitas, que só uma mulher é capaz de reconhecer a cor do esmalte que outra está usando. Por vezes, só de olhar de longe...

Basta ser um pouquinho mais claro ou mais escuro, e já faz TODA a diferença! Mulher é assim... Vai entender! Procura não ser igual às demais usando o mesmo esmalte que a mocinha da novela - comos e milhares de outras não fossem copiar também... E aí a moda pega. Como podemos ser assim?

Só agora, pesquisando na internet, pude achar uns vinte blogs e sites falando das tendências de cores para 2010, inspiradas nas unhas das personagens de Viver a Vida. Unha é papo sério para a mulherada, tá na boca do povo. Olha só:

Alice – 'Obsessão', da Risque; Helena – 'Audrey', da Impala, 'Doce de Leite' e 'Nude', da Colorama; Renatinha – 'Tomate', da Impala, 'Desejo' e 'Toque de Ira', da Risqué, 'Noite da Gala', da Colorama; Ingrid – 'Jazz', da Risqué, 'Tafetá' e 'Chá Gelado', da Colorama; Luciana – 'Tóquio', da Risque.

*Tá certo que essa lista já ta meio ultrapassada, uma vez que as unhas da Lu já nem aparecem mais em suas mãozinhas fechadas, depois do acidente, mas sua sogra mala e a protagonista seguem usando as mesmas cores...

Incrível esse último, cinza, pegou mesmo. E olha que é bem diferente dos vermelhos, branquinhos e rosas mais comuns. A tendência desse verão foi a ousadia. O laranja chegou arrasando nos desfiles e cores como amarelo e verde fluorescentes e azul clarinho também agradaram.

Esse, aliás, é um tema que me instiga: cor de esmalte. Tem para todos os gostos - dos clássicos 'Gabriela' e 'Renda', da Risqué aos excêntricos e novos 'Barbarella' e 'Nugget', da Impala, por exemplo. Ta aí: cor de esmalte é uma coisa de louco! E os nomes, então(!) – muito mais.

Agora, como saber, ou pensar numa cor só pelo nome do esmalte? Impossível. Alguns são barbadas devido a sua obviedade: ‘Uva’, ‘Menta’, ’Black’, ‘Café’, ‘Areia’, ‘Ruby’,... ou até outros como ‘Capuccino’, ‘Cetim’, ‘Via Láctea’, ‘Beijo’ e ‘Chama’, que não são tão escancarados mas que conseguimos imaginar rapidamente seu tom.

Mas e outros como ‘Garota Dourada’, ‘Atração Fatal’, ‘Donata’, ‘40graus’, ‘Salto Alto’, ‘Gatinha’, ‘’Doce Orgulho’, ’Valentina’, ‘Preguicinha’, ‘Cleópatra’, ’Santa Gula’, ‘Erika’, ‘Pipa’, ‘Aleixo’, ‘Espelho’, ‘Rio Doce’, ‘Xaréu’, 'Show', 'New York' e ‘Camboa’? Socorro! Não dá para saber - exlusividade de manicure. Ou, só sendo mulher (ligada) para dominar o tema...

Aliás, fica aqui meu cumprimento pela CRIATIVIDADE das marcas de esmalte na escolha dos nomes para cada tom de cor. Sempre penso nisso – em quem é o responsável pelos títulos. Impressionante a capacidade de criação de denominações tão diversas e incomuns.

E atenção meninas: para o inverno, as promessas são os tons de cinza, azul, roxo, pink, vermelho, nude e os metalizados. Bom que aqui no Brasil esmalte é bem baratinho e por muito pouco podemos ficar na moda, criar uma, mudar, ser quem a gente quiser. Viva a acetona!

O frio restringe o corpo, mas liberta os fantasmas da alma.

Há tempos não sentia o ar gélido soltar certa fumacinha da respiração pelos ares. Brincadeira de criança que vira rotina no inverno europeu.

Para onde irão? Que seja ao alto e adiante, como nossos sonhos - livres.

primavera-verão

Foi aberta ontem uma nova temporada.

Não há coisa melhor que pegar um solzinho e dar um mergulho no mar quando há tempos não se faz isso. Tira-se o mofo, pegar solzinho e por tabela uma cor, é bom para reenergizar... O corpo e a mente agradecem.

A praia tem um social também. Ponto de encontro de amigos, motivo para se esbaldar de tanto tomar chimarrão, conversar, ver gente bonita. Importante se inspirar desde já para as estações quentes, pensar em cuidar do corpitcho daqui pra frente (e sempre).

Não foi o caso dessa vez, mas amo dormir na praia, embaixo da barraca (leia-se guarda-sol). Fico ouvindo a voz das pessoas ao longe, não interessada no papo delas, mas no ‘movimento’ que vai me acalmando, acalmando... e só o óculos de sol nos salva nessas horas (salve, salve). Acordo toda errada, é bem verdade, que nem um kibe, mas nem aí. Adoro!

Vou ver se passo a ir à praia de manhã, em dias de semana mesmo, cedinho, de bicicleta quem sabe no cantinho do Leme - que é mais pertinho. De repente até rola um voleizinho básico. Só bem vai me fazer bem.

Agora nem tanto mais, mas ainda quando entro no mar no inverno, como agora, fico pensando que é uma época super atípica, que tá um frio de rachar em Porto Alegre, e que somos muito sortudos mesmo por morar numa cidade maravilhosa! Tem que aproveitar, não deixar de curtir, relaxar e ficar em casa. No "carioca's way of life" o lance é sair de casa.

No clima, tirei 'do armário' ontem os apetrechos básicos: biquini, sandálias (leia-se chinelos), canga, protetor de sol, bolsão, térmica, creme para o cabelo.... Coisa boa! Foi dada a largada. Partiu.

O melhor do inverno é o 'cobertor de orelha', com certeza, mas o vinho é a segunda (e ajuda a conquistar a primeira).

Bebi terça um tinto sul-africano maravilhoso, muito bem acompanhada. Uma noite perfeita. É a melhor pedida para esses dias frescos.

Hoje gravamos numa Adega e Restaurante uma matéria com o enólogo Marcelo Copello sobre o vinho, a suposta bebida dos amantes. Na verdade é o champagne, que também é um vinho, re-fermentado. Os dois são sempre bem-vindos.

Não resisti, comprei duas garrafas (um português e um chileno), para ocasiões especiais, jantarzinhos futuros. Estou empolgadíssima. O final de semana promete! - tomar vinhos finos, fazer um quentão típico gaúcho - tinto, ficar sob o efeito divino de Baco. Hummmm...

Pode vir quentão que eu estou fervendo! Pode mesmo.
